Therapy

Individual therapy is available for those seeking support and healing around trauma and dissociation. Whether you're feeling disconnected from yourself, your body, or your memories, therapy offers a space to safely explore those experiences. We’ll work together to understand protective patterns, build tools for grounding, and begin restoring connection. All parts of you are welcome here.

Individual Therapy

I provide individual therapy for adults who have experienced trauma, with a focus on those who survived childhood emotional, physical, or sexual abuse, or other overwhelming events. Many of the people I work with experience dissociation: feeling disconnected from their thoughts, emotions, body, or sense of self. This isn’t a sign of something wrong with you. Dissociation is actually a natural survival response, especially when trauma happens in situations where escape or protection wasn’t possible.

In the face of overwhelming threat, the mind and body do what they must to survive. One of those ways is through protective parts that take on specific roles to keep you safe, hidden, or numb in moments of danger. These parts can carry pain, anger, fear, or shame, but they also carry deep wisdom and strength. Understanding and building a relationship with these parts can be a powerful part of healing.

In therapy, we’ll move at a pace that feels safe for you and your parts.  We’ll start by focusing on building stability, developing tools to manage distress, and helping you feel more grounded in your body. This often includes psychoeducation about trauma and dissociation, along with somatic resourcing and mindfulness-based skills to support regulation and safety.

As you begin to feel more resourced and supported in therapy, you are likely to feel more present in your body and reconnecting with your physical self, while beginning to build a respectful, compassionate dialogue with the different aspects of your inner world, nurturing an internal relationship where all parts can be seen, heard, and supported. Through compassionate curiosity and therapeutic support, you can begin to build relationships with these parts, understand what they need, and help them begin to trust that things are different now. This inner dialogue can be profoundly healing, especially when it happens in a safe, attuned space where all parts are welcomed.

I’m also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based trauma therapy that helps the brain reprocess stuck or distressing memories. EMDR can be integrated into therapy if and when it feels appropriate for you: but it's always your choice.

My goal is to support you in understanding the ways your system adapted to survive, and to help you move toward a more connected, grounded, and empowered version of yourself. Healing from trauma isn’t about erasing parts of yourself or forgetting the past: it’s about weaving those experiences into your story and current life in a way that brings more ease, clarity, and connection.
